An almost complete list of all my exhibitions. You'll see I've not exhibited at all in the last few years, and you can probably understand why in part. I explain my plans below.

Invited and Jury Selected Art Shows Record

I established a record of being consistently selected for all the Ferens and East Coast shows I submitted to.

If they're missing from the list, I didn't submit anything that year!

Ferens in Hull closed for major refurbishment in 2015-2017, so no Open exhibitions were held there during the works. Since then, I've debated whether to re-start submitting or not as it costs quite a bit of money to do so. Perhaps I will…

Exhibiting Landscape Art

Early days art exhibition plans, after a hiatus

Painting for future art exhibitions

After a pause, I'm now in the early stages of developing some art themes I expect to be able to propose to venues.

I began exploring a theme involving hills and valleys just before covid hit, and it brought the exercise to an immediate juddering halt. It's been hard to recover clarity and impetus since.

The call to paint the hills has returned though, as I knew it would. It's one of the few ways I am an archetypal artist: artistic missions get hold of me and hold me in their sway.

It means I will have at least one collection I'll be seeking opportunities to show next year. Of course exhibitions are often planned well in advance so it may well by the year after next when I announce things here. Yes, things can take that long.

I'm not someone who rushes paintings and prints for a speculatively booked exhibition. It does mean things take longer, but I feel the quality of art I exhibit is better for it.

Supporting the art eco-system

I understand some good souls are feeling guilty about buying art during these times of hardship for so many.

Do not feel at all guilty about investing in original art made by hand, and especially when you purchase it from small independent art galleries.

When you do that, you're supporting an eco system that benefits many small businesses and the self-employed. At the core of the system are artists, framers, and galleries.

Big business will survive unless it's completely silly and badly managed, and your purchases will not save it from those things, I'm afraid.

Small businesses, and the self-employed artist whose ability to pay their electric bill depends on making art, can be saved by your patronage. You're making a difference.

So buying art from them is a good and important thing to do.
