About this art project

Type of landscape

One of the strays in the city of York — I'm fascinated with painting green spaces in cities, and am shaping a series exploring the subject. This one was painted on a very wet 'stray' in early March, and I think it's captured it.

Detail of a linocut with a big wave crashing toward us — A book on painting seascapes I happened across in my local library gripped me for months when I was young. Ever since, seascapes have fascinated me, and my first sell‑out linocut print was a seascape.
Away to sea

Painting on an easel infront of a view of a valley — Valleys in Yorkshire are called dales, whether they're in The Dales or elsewhere. Hill subjects are always a winner.

Outdoor painting of Thornwick Bay cliffs — I spent much of 2022 painting the Yorkshire coast before the crowds became too much (I'll be back). This project has sparked so many ideas, it's about ready to move into the studio big time.
