A favourite subject
Many artists decide to make a very specific subject their own, and explore it endlessly to form a narrowly focussed collection of art.
I follow several artists on social media who work this way with much success. One paints nothing but groups of trees, often with water. Another paints tangles of flowers, often filling the painting with one type of flower.
Their art is always impactful, and when well executed too, it's a wonderful art.
I'd be concerned however that it would be an artistic straight jacket I'd find hard to wear after a time.
Quintessentially english landscape
So my subject broad and varied – it's all landscape. Anything ending in 'scape' is fair game in fact.
I narrow this down, a little, by exploring ideas and loose themes.

This collection is forming around the idea of the quintessentially English landscape. Landscapes that represent a type rather than a specific place. Landscapes that could be anywhere in England.
