Pyramid Gallery window glows with richness on Stone Gate

Pyramid Gallery, York

Pyramid's Summer Show (Ends: 2 Sept 2019)

July 2019

Open now. Four original oil paintings in this lovely group exhibition involving 18 artist's paintings, prints, ceramics, relief work and other media.

  • An unassuming chair sits at the edge of a garden in a secret sunny spot

    "A Moment In The Sun"

    Oil on canvas panel

  • A beautiful sky appears as the mist clears, while sheep graze on lush grass

    "Countryside Mist"

    Oil on canvas panel

  • A girl sits with her sketchbook on a shore, with the big blue world infront of her

    "Happiness Is A Shingle Shore"

    Oil on canvas panel

  • Sheep graze on a hillside in the early light of a morning.

    "Sheep In The Wolds"

    Oil on canvas panel

The four paintings above are on display upstairs in the front room so pop along and pick up something original.

The paintings are finished with custom built double solid wood frames. Double frames means they're in two mouldings, one inside the other. The frames are hand painted using Farrow & Ball Estate Eggshell colours. While framed in plain understated contemporary colours, and mounted using a modern 'float' style, the frame mouldings quietly embody the ageless elegance of a classical painting era. This modern interpretaion of the classic frame should sit well in either traditional or contemporary interiors

The reverse of all frames are professionally finished and sealed, because my attention to detail and quality does not stop when a linoprint has it's last layer of ink applied, or a painting comes off the easel…

My art in this beautiful gallery

My original linocuts have been available from the Pyramid Gallery in York since December 2009.

This high quality gallery, at number 43 Stonegate, is situated in the historic heart of the city of York, featuring a welcoming interior filled with beautiful craft objects, ceramics, glass, jewelry and original paintings and prints. Always worth a visit, whether I have my prints and paintings there or not! The fine art is upstairs, with more to look at than you'd think in this seemingly tiny characterful building.

The Pyramid Gallery is at the Minster end of Stonegate, so don't worry if you see a similar building half way up the street – simply keep on going and you'll find this lovely gallery filled with all its delights. The team work really hard on an ever changing programme of exhibitions with many renown artists on show.

As well as the above four paintings, they may still have one unframed linocut available, though I might be out of date on this…

You can ask to view works at this gallery, whether a linocut or original painting. They'll be happy to give me a call and between us we'll ensure the art is available there for you to view – no obligation. You can also order prints via The Pyramid Gallery if you prefer to.

If you'd like to know when Pyramid Gallery has more of my art on show, please sign-up to my newsletter, thank you

Visiting The Pyramid Gallery

Finding your way there

Start by either heading for the Minster or for Bettys. At the Minster, stand with your back to the Minster's public entrance and head to the nearest street opening, there really is only one. Simply keep going straight-on more or less heading South, crossing over Petergate.

The Pyramid Gallery is only a short distance from there. If starting from Betty's then head North into the street opening next to the church. Whichever way, whether you're heading South or North, there is only really one obvious street opening to take. Stonegate, an old paved street connecting the Minster and Betty's in the very centre of the city. The Pyramid Gallery is toward the Minster end of Stonegate.

The city of York

The city of York, in the heart of the beautiful county of Yorkshire (UK), is difficult to beat as a destination with its long history as a settlement, beginning notably with the Vikings. As well as its history, a vibrant cosmopolitan shopping centre, numorous restaurants and informal cafes, theatres, public art gallery and city centre cinema, means it really does have something for everyone. York pleases whatever the weather.

Opening times: 10am until 5pm, weekdays; 10am until 6pm Saturdays. They are also open some Sundays. Please check their web site in case this is out of date information or phone the gallery.
